A new and innovative portal for use by
local authorities has been developed
by Connect Internet Solutions. Connect
was commissioned by a consortium of
local authorities led by Leeds Council
to develop the portal using the latest
Web 2.0 technologies, and to host the
portal. The aim of the talk>>> portal is to enable local authorities to share and disseminate knowledge and experience of implementing national ICT projects which address the ODPM’s transformational government agenda. talk>>> is a content-managed website based on knowledge sharing and the dissemination of information. It will offer an instant way of accessing information from those at the frontline of transformation within the public sector using the tacit knowledge of those who have the experience. Users who register on the site will have facilities to: * Create a blog * Join another project * Contribute to discussions * Contact other talk>>> members * Form a new group * Create a working space for their community of interest Connect’s Design Manager, Ian Walker, who has been project managing the development and working closely with the talk>>> project team comments, “This is a really exciting project – it is using Web2.0 technologies to deliver real benefits amongst the local authorities, and will allow for easy sharing of information about transformational government, and the lessons learnt by different groups in a range of formats. The use of technologies such as blogs, videos, podcasts, and tag clouds are being used to support portal users by making it easier to share, disseminate and locate helpful and useful information. Users will be able to discover and share the latest national product thinking and insights from real peer experiences online”. | More on the talk portal (Link opens in a new window) |
