More online services for Scottish ratepayers

April 16th 2007
SAA Further online services have been added to the Scottish Assessors Portal, which provides a single point of access, for the public and the property sector, to information on council tax banding and rateable values for all properties in Scotland.

Scottish ratepayers can now lodge a valuation appeal direct to their local Assessor by completing a simple online form available on the Portal, developed by Connect Internet Solutions. In addition council tax payers can lodge an on-line proposal to alter the Council Tax band for a property.

Additional information has also been added to the non-domestic property details, to include valuation histories for Rateable Values. Portal users can now view not only the pre- revaluation 01.04.2005 “snapshot” entry, but also a history of all value changes from 01.04.2005 and the current “live” entry.

Les Walker, SRO for the Scottish Assessors’ Portal Project commented on the latest online services: "This development further confirms the commitment of Scottish Assessors to upgrade and improve the Portal, which was initially developed to provide information to users, by the provision of online services for business users and the general public. The flexibility and professionalism which Connect applied in the early stages of Portal development and continues to display enabled the development to be delivered within a relatively short timescale".

Working with the 14 regional assessors responsible for the valuation function for all 32 Scottish Councils, Connect Internet Solutions developed the portal which comprises a national online database of over 2.3 million domestic and nearly 300,000 non- domestic properties in Scotland, as part of the "Definitive National Addressing for Scotland Programme".
