The bilingual ‘portal of choice’,
developed by Connect for young people
in Wales, is now online.
The portal has been developed as part
of the CREDU Digital Youth Wales
project, a national initiative to
create a digital information service
by and for young people across Wales
brought together by Canllaw Online in
partnership with Fujitsu Services,
with
part funding received from the ERDF
(European Regional Development Fund)
through the
Welsh Assembly Government.
The CREDU portal offers young people
the opportunity to not only view
digital resources created by other
young people, but also to contribute
their own resources such as images,
sound and audio clips and text.
All young people registering on the
portal have access to a bilingual web-
based mail service developed by
Connect, personal webspace and forums,
and they can create a personal avatar
to tag all content provided by them to
the portal.
Carole Boardman, Public Sector
Director of Connect Internet
Solutions, said ‘The creative web and
multimedia design and technical flair
brought to the project by our
developers has resulted in a portal
which will excite and enthuse young
people across Wales to use and develop
their digital skills. This is a truly
innovative website which will assist
in achieving the CREDU aims to support
young people in Wales to achieve new
levels of participation, leadership,
skills, enterprise, innovation and
sustainable employment.’
The portal is underpinned by a
database-driven content management
system which allows the whole portal
to be delivered in both English and
Welsh.
